دعوة للمؤتمر الرابع: مستقبل سوريا (التوافق على التحديات والحلول)

Why Now?

Why Now?

The work of the Hague Academy for Science and Studies began in 2004 with the monitoring of the ideologies of groups and television channels that sought to incite sectarian tensions in the Arab region. However, with the onset of the Arab Spring in 2011, the Academy's leadership decided to hold conferences aimed at criminalizing sectarianism and disarming sectarian forces within the oppressive regime in Syria, to prevent the civil war that was anticipated by the Academy’s leaders. These conferences were named "Workshop on Criminalizing Sectarianism and Preserving National Unity in Syria," and were attended by a significant number of Syrian political figures and forces. However, it later became clear that the complexities of sectarianism extended far beyond Syria, reaching across the globe. Sectarian fears and terrorism are exploited by various mafias to achieve their interests at the expense of innocent and impoverished people. This indicates that the issues of sectarianism and terrorism cannot be addressed locally without the collaboration of free and honorable people worldwide. Therefore, it is essential to expand these efforts to tackle these issues on a global scale.
